Are You Ready?
Taking your Theory Test - The theory test is all about how much knowledge and understanding you have of the Highway Code (The rules and law for road users). You will be learning your theory alongside your practical driving by reading material and also from your lessons. A good indication that you are ready to take your theory test would be when you are passing the practice tests with a score of 47+ out of 50 (the pass level is 43 out of 50) on the multiple choice and passing with a score of 55+ out of 75 (the pass level is 44 out of 75) with the HPT(Hazard Perception) part of the test.
Mock Practical Test – This will be as realistic as possbile to the actual Practical Test. The mock test will give you and your instructor an indication of your readiness to take the practical test. It will be conducted in the manner of the real test to come. You may be taken round an actual test route or a made up route that covers all the subjects required by the actual test. You will be told if you have passed or failed the mock test and given a de-brief just like the examiner will on the test day.
Practical Driving Test- You will have been driving for sometime now (30hrs+) and covered the full DSA syllabus. Passed your Theory & HPT test. Feel confident with your driving and taken a Mock Test. This will give you an idea of any weaknesses in your driving. Once you agree you are ready with your instructor you can book your practical test. There is usually a waiting time of 4 – 8 wks. This wait will give you time to work on any problems you may have.
Test Times
Theory Test Times: 08:00 – 18:00
Standard Practical Test Times - various start times between: 07:30 - 15:27 Monday to Friday.
Premium Practical Test Times - Saturday and weekday evenings: subject to resources being available.
